GRADUATION AND COMMENCEMENT
Commencement exercises to award degrees, diplomas, and certificates to students in respective programs are held after the spring semester. Students who seek to graduate must submit a Graduation Application through Patriot Port. Those eligible for a certificate, diploma, or degree are encouraged to participate in the Commencement ceremony as a public celebration of their commitment, determination, and accomplishments. The specific date of the Commencement ceremony is listed on the College Calendar. All students who have completed credential requirements after the previous Commencement are invited to participate.
Requirements
To qualify for a degree, diploma, or certificate in a program of study, students must:
Complete all of the courses as outlined in the official Curriculum Standards,
Earn the minimum required total semester hours,
Maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or better in the program of study. Some programs also require a grade of “C” or better on required courses; all nursing programs require a grade of “B” or better, and
Submit a graduation application.
Students may earn a certificate, diploma, or degree from Isothermal Community College in accordance with the requirements stated in the College Catalog in effect when they enroll in the Isothermal program of study.
Students are responsible for monitoring progress in their program of study and ensuring they enroll in courses within their program for the correct college catalog year. For students transferring to Isothermal Community College, at least 25% of the credits required for graduation must be earned at Isothermal Community College.
Note: In accordance with the North Carolina Community College Reverse Transfer initiative and college practices that support students through workforce credentialing, Isothermal Community College may identify and award credentials to students who have met requirements 1-3 for credentials, including, and in addition to, their active program of study.
