Start Strong with Orientation and ACA College Success Courses

ORIENTATION

As part of our efforts to provide the best opportunity for our students to start strong, Isothermal requires students to complete an online orientation through Moodle. Orientation familiarizes students with campus procedures and resources and offers information and assistance to help them succeed in college.

Some students may be exempt from orientation, for example, those currently classified as a College and Career Promise (CCP), Early College, Occupational Education (Lateral Entry), Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), or Special Credit student. Students may also be exempt from participating in orientation if they graduated from an Isothermal program fewer than five years before enrolling in a new program. The latter exemption does not include prior CCP enrollment.

ACA COURSES

At Isothermal, we believe in setting our students up for success. That's why we offer a student success course, ACA 122: College Transfer Success. This ACA course provides an extensive orientation not only to the College but also to the first-year college experience with a focus on problem-solving, goal setting, educational planning, and career and college exploration. It is more than just a course-it is a stepping stone to creating good habits for the future. We strongly recommend that degree-seeking students enroll in an ACA course their first semester.
